Laura and Jonathan plan to marry in a large celebration with all their family and friends. With Laura just out of school and starting a career as a pharmacist and Jonathan about to enter a nursing program, a wedding extravaganza was a bit much to handle at this point in their life together. Still, they wanted something special to mark their engagement and to honor their shared loving bond. So they had a “hand-fasting” of sorts — a commitment or engagement ceremony.
