Getting married in Central Park is quite easy.  A permit is not even mandatory for gatherings with twenty or fewer individuals. In fact, I have officiated wedding ceremonies to which couples invited 25-35 guests and skipped the permit. However, keep in mind that some sites are particularly popular for weddings. The Ladies Pavilion, Wagner’s Cove, Belvedere Castle Plaza, and the Shakespeare Garden are great examples. Therefore, I always urge all couples to secure the NYC Parks’ Department permit ($25) in advance. Couples must request the permit at least 21 days’ in advance.
